THE FOLLOWING IS A RECIPE GUIDE ON HOW TO USE YOUR

FEED TROUGH STARTERS!

Remember individual taste will vary.  This is a guide, and you can always make changes at your discretion.  We would love to hear from you about how you’ve loved our product and any changes that have been made. These recipes are designed for slow cooker meals, however, they can be slightly modified for an instaPot or prepared on a stove top with a skillet.  Setting your slow cooker to LOW you will need to allow 5-6 hours for cooking.  A HIGH setting will shorten the cooking time to 3-4 hours.

 

FEED TROUGH STARTER GUIDE FOR HATCH GREEN CHILI

 

MEXICAN STREET CORN – ELOTE’

Grocery List: 8 oz pack of Cream Cheese, 2 lbs of Frozen Corn

In a slow cooker place an 8oz block of cream cheese, 2 lbs of frozen corn and 1 package of Feed Trough Starter HATCH GREEN CHILI.  Set your desired temperature. Stir every 30 minutes until you’re pleased with consistency.  (about 2 hours).  Serve up with your favorite salsa and cheese if you prefer.  To increase SPICINESS, add HABANERO or use it 50-50

 

SANTA FE CHICKEN

Grocery List: Boneless Chicken Thighs or Breast 2-3 lbs,  1 14.4 oz can dices tomatoes, 1 15oz can of black beans (drained & rinsed), 8 oz frozen corn, 2-3 cups of water and 1 package of Feed Trough Starter HATCH GREEN CHILI

In a slow cooker place 1 package of Feed Trough Starter HATCH GREEN CHILI and all other ingredients and stir together. Then place Chicken on top.  Set your desired temperature.  Serve on a platter or straight from the trough with tortilla chips or rice and enjoy! 

 

ALL-AMERICAN CHILI / VEGETARIAN OPTION

Grocery List: 2 lbs ground beef, 1 lb pork sausage, 1 12oz bottle of beer and 64 oz Zig Zag Bloody Mary Mix

** Vegetarian option

1 15oz can chickpeas (drained and rinsed), 1 15oz can kidney beans (drained and rinsed), 1 15oz can pinto beans (drained and rinsed), 1 cup tri-colored quinoa, 1 12oz bottle of beer and 32 oz Zig Zap Bloody Mary Mix

Cook your ground beef and pork sausage in a skillet on medium heat until browned.  Drain and set aside.  In a slow cooker place 1 package of Feed Trough Starter HATCH GREEN CHILI and all ingredients including meat and stir together.  Set your desired temperature.  Serve in bowls with crackers or tortilla chips. Top with cheese, jalapeños or salsa. Enjoy!

 

PAZOLE

Grocery List: Boneless Chicken Thighs or Pork BUTT  3-4 lbs,  1 14.5 oz can dices tomatoes, 1 30oz can of white hominy (drained & rinsed), for later 1 small package of cabbage, 1-2 radishes, 1-2 limes and a medium avocado

In a slow cooker place the meat of choice.  Add 3-4 cups of water or chicken stock, diced tomatoes, hominy, and 1 package of Feed Trough Starter HATCH GREEN CHILE.  Set your desired temperature.  Once meat is tender use a fork to shred the meat. Slice radishes, limes and avocado.  Serve in a large soup bowl. Add cabbage, radish, lime and avocado to bowl for individual taste and enjoy!
